From a porch idea to a parade
The Krewe of Example’s story is fictional, but it follows the path of many real krewes: a few friends, a big idea, and a lot of glitter.
How it started
The Krewe of Example began when a group of neighbors decided their porch-side Mardi Gras parties deserved a parade of their own. The first procession was a handful of decorated wagons and one very enthusiastic brass band.
How it’s going
Today the Flock rolls with full floats, hosts the Bal des Pélicans every January, and welcomes new riders every season. The pelican, a bird known for carrying more than its share, became the krewe’s emblem.
